coming fall 2008…somewhere in ann arbor

the house will ideally have 5-10 people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives and interests.

affordability is a priority.

essential activities will include:
activism…working for a just society and to end all forms of oppression
art…theater, music, dancing, painting, poeming.
fun…parties, laughing, celebrating the mysterious pleasures of being a human
healing…through meditation and other spiritual and contemplative practices

this is a work in progress. many important details have yet to be determined. all members will have an active role in shaping the community. if you are interested in collaborating on this project, contact zoe at zoebender@gmail.com

*“an intentional community is a planned residential community designed to promote a much higher degree of social interaction than other communities. the members of an intentional community typically hold a common social, political or spiritual vision, and also share responsibilities and resources.”

Why Ann Arbor? If "affordability" is a priority concern for you, why would you even consider a town whose chief demographic is college students in a state with one of the highest unemployment rates in the country and a pathetically anti-business governor that can barely even keep state workers paid? If you really want to be in Michigan, check out the area around eastern Ferndale or Hazel Park. Great houses are going cheap and you'd be a lot closer to those of us left in MI who still care about making a difference.
I strongly recommend you reconsider and look at someplace like Savannah, GA or Portland, OR. In fact if you did, I could suggest 20-30 people who would love to help you make your plan happen.
